Jamie's Italian

6:18:00 PM

It's almost a month and I feel so detached from the world.

Thankfully, luckily, after eternal searching and endless trips to interviews, I've finally settled for a job - at Jamie's Italian with Cheng yay! Honestly, I've never heard of Jamie Oliver before this because well, I'm not much of a cooking person, I didn't even know who was Gordon Ramsay until he came to SG omg.

After the interview and the 4-hour trial (to experience how the day is like as a staff, and yes, the restaurant was busybusybusy, i like it), Cheng and I went for our induction, which is also the first day of work! Nothing much, mostly paperwork, getting to know the basics, procedures and precautions.

Didn't see it coming but after which, we were fed a feasttt *_*

(from top left, clockwise) Crispy Squid, Our Famous Polenta Chips, Truffle Risotto, Turbo Penne Arrabbiata, (not too sure), Prawn Linguine
From the bottom of my heart, ALL the food tasted HEAVENLY ohmygod, brought back to short and sweet Costa Victoria days where 1 starter, 1 main, 1 dessert was never enough.

I LOVE ITALIAN FOOD

I loveee the sauce for crispy squid! Couldn't figure out the ingredients they used upon tasting but the combination is PERFECT! I later found out that it's actually garlicky mayo & lemon~

Truffle Risotto and Turbo Penne Arrabiata is a MUST-TRY!  From the picture, the Truffle Risotto looks like mainstream fish porridge from any coffeeshop ah but upon tasting, its a whole new different story, the sauce/marinade (?) (idk the right cooking term) is what makes the dish stands out, SCRUMPTIOUS!

And once again, its also the sauce/marinade and the breadcrumbs (hehe) that made me craved for more Penne Arrabiata, best pasta I've tasted yet! Oh yes, there's actually chili in it and I don't eat spicy food but the sauce was sooo nice that i was maximising my last few pieces of pasta by rolling it in as much sauce (whatever was remaining) as possible, I think I accidentally rolled into a chili piece (!?!) because my mouth burned like sh*t!!!!! I'D NEVER EATEN SMALL CHILI IN MY ENTIRE LIFE ouch my tongue :"( But after drinking a ton of cold water, I went back to finishing le pasta HAHAHA too good

I think Amy ordered a meat plank too! Was reallllyyy looking forward to it but it never came, sadly. This would have been how it looked like:

Since I'm already introducing part of the restaurant, I might as well introduce more! : )

Hi this is my (is it to right to call him) boss,  Jamie Oliver. Fabulous chef (duh), nice guy, family oriented

And this his wife Jools, 4 children, Daisy, Poppy, Petal and son, Buddy.
His personal values (being family oriented) are also brought into work, in our restaurant, we have sections names after his family members, I find this really cool.
Also, children are very welcomed in Jamie's Italian! We have viewfinders and colouring materials to entertain children and kids meals come with a complimentary Shake Me salad to encourage them to eat their greens!

*abrupt ending*
Cheng is w me for almost all my shifts, lookin' forward to work startin' tmr! :)
