31/5 Artbox 2018

12:27:00 AM

Visited Artbox last Sunday! Overall, I would say that it was worth the visit. Aisles of stalls selling hipster/ Thai food, blogshop fashion items, aesthetic backdrops/installations, photo-booths and game booths with many prizes to be won :)

The sky was overcast while we were otw there, so I was quite apprehensive. J's friend visited the day before and said that it was like "outfield" bc it rained in the morning and the ground was all muddy. So I had my fingers crossed the whole time.

There was a snaking queue at the entrance but it moved pretty quickly. We were also given cardboard fans by NTUC plus. Those came in really handy as we were fanning ourselves 70% of the time.

Priorities - FOOD!

Already had a list in mind so we headed straight over.

First up, crododo milkshake from Cereal Citizen!
We got the fruit loops crododo & oreo milkshake for $15 & I loved it!!! Surprisingly, J loved it too as the oreo milkshake wasn't too sweet & there were plenty of oreos blended in. The crododo was nicely glazed, I loved it. I don't think the crododos are meant to be crispy, but if they were, that would be the bomb.

Next up, mango sticky rice from Mum Kranom Thai.
If Thais are selling Thai food, it has gotta be legit right? And boy, it was. Their mango sticky rice ($5) was amazing! Mango was sweet and juicy, glutinous rice was warm and chewy, coconut milk wasn't too overpowering - perfect!

My tastebuds were satisfied.
Went to get J's list of food - the savoury over the sweet

His ultimate love - flaming beef bowl from The Butcher's Kitchen
We got the wagyu truffle beef bowl for $14. Creamy mashed potatoes, diced succulent beef cubes with warm brown gravy and a hint of truffle essence. Well, he loved it.

Also had some Thai pork skewers (3 for $5) and Thai green tea (700ml for $3, 1000ml for $4) but they were chomped/slurped up, before any pictures could be taken.  😂

AESTHETIC BACKDROPS

Just at the right was the foam pool area. Visitors have to pay $5 to enter. The rainbow floats were pretty instagrammable but we gave that a pass as we were sweaty and all, not the best time to jump in a pool of foam sponges haha

GAME BOOTHS

Technically, they are travel booths bc they are promoting travel-related apps, but there were fun & games to win prizes!

At MilesLife, they had a ticket blowing booth and we could catch as many tickets as possible within 30 seconds. The grand prize was 25k Krisflyer miles. As we were queuing, I was visualising the ticket flying into my hand. While I was at it, the 25k ticket legit flew into a hand... of the girl in front of us!!! What. On. Earth???!!! The odds of winning in succession is so low but we just played anw. It was actually pretty challenging to catch the tickets mid-air, so I caught those that stuck on the walls. Won some USB fans, luggage tags, a few Mileslife dollars :)

Over at Contiki, there was a huge world map with velcro tapes on different countries (Different countries = Different colour categories = Different prizes). We were each given 5 balls to throw and stick on the velcros. I was so bad at that haha. J scored 2x USD$50 travel vouchers! The prizes were non-stackable, but well, one better than none :)

And that concludes our Artbox 2018 adventure!
