Removing that metallic smell

Bought this pretty chain necklace from Diva 3 years back and not long after, it started emanating this putrefying metallic smell that even got onto my hand upon contact. BLECH.

If I remembered correctly, it was around..... $12? $15?? Or was it $18?? lols
Anyways, it was a pity that I couldn't wear it again. It was SO vintagey, I'd loved it </3
Dumped it into my jewellery box and never touched it again until....... just now.

My owl necklace broke and I couldn't find a better substitute.... Dug it out and OMG THAT SMELL IS STILL THERE! After 3 years!! Okay, ofc it's still there, what was I expecting lols.

Googled for a way to remove that smell and they said to use toothpaste? Scrubbed every inch of my necklace with Colgate toothpaste and...... HEE~ It smells like mint now :)  There's still a lil trace of that metallic smell but it's definitely much much fainter.

I reckon the smell should be gone after a second round of good scrubbing! Shall try it tmr.
