SMU interview

2:33:00 PM

My interview for SMU's Business Admin was scheduled yesterday 7.30pm, found muh way and reached slightly earlier - 7.25pm hahaha! I thought I was gonna be late but hey turns out registration only started at 7.30pm :)

Started moving off at 8pm~ Entered the holding room and we were grouped according to the card given during registration. I was C8 and my Group C was an awesomepossum girl group :)
Had a mini get-to-know session before entering another room at ~8.30pm where we sat in tables of 2 and were given 15 minutes to read an article. The room went dead silent, I felt like I was taking another GP comprehension exam omg.

Different batches, different articles or so I heard?? One batch's was on technology and ethics and another was on........ I forgot ^^;
Anyways, our article was on........ education and ethics? About how titles such as 'Dr.' and 'Prof.' are important in Germany, how a minister plagiarized in her academics for the sake of attaining that title, how she was found out 32 years later and ridden of her position. About how them titles serve as an ego boost, how your working abilities are judged based on those titles (in a way) ~

Gathered in our groups again to discuss about the desert-dry article we just read. Our discussion went along the lines of the possible questions that could be asked hahah

Went into another room, the actual interview room hahah at 9pm. Oh yes, it was a group discussion with 8 of us and 2 interviewers, seminar style. It was a pretty lax interview, idk why people say until like it is some dog-eat-dog thing omg. Reminded me of Ms Seow's GP lessons hahahaha, question posed are open to the floor hahaha

Some of the questions I remembered:
1) Why did you choose SMU?
This one is compulsory for everyone to answer. I was first in line, no time to think of a brainier answer ah, so i said because of its centralised location, nearer to my house, save time =_= while everyone else said something related to studies - the seminar-style, they like the interaction, wanna learn to be better speaker, have overseas opportunities, higher employment rate etc. and only one another mentioned about the friendly environment.

2) Do you think that we are too focused on the paper-chase? Is it necessary/ important so?

3) So what do you think could be done to the education system to improve on that?

4) If let's say our education system were to be less results-oriented, what would you have done differently?

3) If let's say you know your boss plagiarises or does something wrong, what would you do?

4) Now let's give a little twist to this. If let's say your boss asks YOU to do something wrong and this has been going on for quite some time now, nobody has ever caught you, and you know no one ever will. What would you do?

  2. I heard from several interviewees that the prof will didn't ask questions like why SMU? According to your experience, did they ask a lot of personal questions? I have a interview on the 21st. Would like to know.

    1. Sry I just saw this! Hm maybe they changed the questions they asked? I went for the interview back in 2014 haha. Nope not much personal questions but you gotta give your personal opinions to those general questions tho! All the best!
